Last winter (2024/2025), for the first time I have experienced, the sparrows roosted at night in the gaps between the thatched roof and the facade beams. See the photo below.
In fact, the spots were so in demand that they were taken as early as 4 p.m., with much fighting over the best positions.

In the winter 2023/2024 the sparrows did not stay in these spots. In spring 2024, there was a thriving redstart nest in the wooden enclosure without any interference by the sparrows...
This raises the question of whether there is a territorial issue since this year between the sparrows and the redstart? I do not know if the sparrows were driven away by the redstart male, or if they simply left because spring had arrived. But either way, they may see this area as theirs.
I intend to close the gaps on this side of the facade next winter, in an attempt to separate the sparrows and the redstarts.
